In honor of January being National Glaucoma Awareness Month, Dr. Cavallaro spoke with Marilyn Moore on KMPH’s Lifestyle Matters all about glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a complicated disease in which damage to the optic nerve leads to progressive, irreversible vision loss. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness, which is why it is so important to get regular eye exams, especially as you get older: people over 60 are at higher risk for glaucoma. With early detection and treatment, you can often protect your eyes from serious vision loss.
