John Cason is a fellowship-trained specialist in cornea, ocular surface disease, and refractive surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. After completion of his undergraduate studies at Emory University, he matriculated to the George Washington University Medical School where he acquired his medical doctorate. He completed his internal medicine internship at the Navy Medical Center, Portsmouth and his ophthalmology residency at the Navy Medical Center, San Diego. He then received specialty training in diseases of the cornea at the Doheny Eye Institute, which was a part of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA.
Dr. Cason is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), and has special interests in refractive surgery, advanced cornea transplantation techniques, and humanitarian surgical missions. He actively pursues clinical research, including FDA trials, and has served as an article reviewer for peer-reviewed scientific journals. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He likes to hike, play tennis, and jam on the guitar.
