Dr. Richard Moors is a board-certified ophthalmologist, a member of the American College of Surgeons and senior partner at EYE-Q Vision Care. He provides general ophthalmic services and specializes in cataract surgery. To date, he has performed more than 20,000 cataract surgeries.
Dr. Moors was one of the first surgeons in the Central Valley to offer painless, sutureless, clear corneal tunnel incision with topical anesthesia in 1992.
Dr. Moors was one of the first clinical investigators for STAAR Surgical, pioneering the foldable intraocular lens.
Originating from Washington state, he earned his medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle. Following his internship at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, he served three years as a flight surgeon in the United States Navy. He returned to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center for three years of specialty training in ophthalmology.
In his free time, Dr. Moors enjoys aerobatic stunt flying and scuba diving. He was the originator and a performer of Miracles in the Sky, an airshow benefiting Valley Children’s Hospital featuring a dinner with guest speaker Chuck Yeager. The event was sponsored by EYE-Q Vision Care, Channel 30, and Fig Garden Rotary.
He has been a member of LIGA International, The Flying Doctors of Mercy, providing free ophthalmologic care to the citizens of Ocoroni, Mexico.
Dr. Moors is a member of Experimental Aircraft Association and Young Eagles, a nationwide program providing free plane rides to children to promote education and interest in aviation. He also frequently donates aerobatic plane rides for local charities.
