Community has been a cornerstone of EYE-Q since the very beginning, just like our mission to improve eye health in the Valley. When these two elements come together, it’s like magic to us. Recently, we were given the opportunity to nominate a local community benefit organization for a $1,000 grant through ABB OPTICAL GROUP’s ABB Cares program, and we immediately knew the perfect fit: Valley Center for the Blind. The ABB Cares program recognizes charities that have been nominated by eye care professionals across the country for exceptional programming and community impact. Valley Center for the Blind has provided services for the blind and visually-impaired since 1975 and is dedicated to creating a more independent and opportunity-filled life for them. It’s no wonder why they were selected for this grant upon nomination by Dr. Kim Vuong.
“As an optometrist and low vision specialist myself, I work closely with Valley Center for the Blind and have seen firsthand the difference they make,” Dr. Vuong said.
The $1,000 grant will help Valley Center for the Blind set up a clinic that will allow them to establish a professional rehabilitation center for the visually-impaired in our community. EYE-Q couldn’t be happier to be a part of such an important contribution, and we are excited to see Valley Center of the Blind continue the important work that they do.
