Eye Drop Tips

Posted on

It’s no secret that we all dread taking eyedrops: the mounting anxiety over that little bottle is enough to drive some people straight into eye territory dryer than Death Valley. Our ophthalmologists say taking eyedrops is crucial for one’s eye health if they have a condition that will benefit from them. This doesn’t mean you’re doomed to discomfort; rather, you just need a little help from your friends at EYE-Q with our insider tips and tricks for making eyedrops easy.

There are many ways to ease yourself or your child into taking eyedrops.

Here are some of those ways:

  • Make sure the head is tilted far back, like you’re looking at a sky full of stars on a clear night.
  • Hold the bottle of eyedrops with your thumb and first two fingers. Place your other two fingers on your nose for stability. See how much control you have? You’re the captain, now.
  • You can insert eyedrops with the eye closed. Simply shut the eye and place the drops in the inner corner, then blink a few times to disperse the medicine around your eye.
  • If all else fails, you can ask your doctor about an ointment-based solution.
