LASIK FAQ

Have you been hesitant about getting LASIK surgery? Let’s answer some common questions to better inform you about LASIK surgery:
Is LASIK safe?
- LASIK is one of the most popular elective surgeries in the country and is remarkably safe. We have a thorough pre-operative evaluation protocol, a rigorous surgical planning process, and multiple levels of safety built-in during the laser procedure itself.
What are the risks or side effects?
- The most common side effect is dry eyes, which usually are temporary and can be aided with eye drops. Other side effects may include double vision, halos, and/or glare. Most side effects are temporary. More serious complications are longer lasting, but occur in less than one percent of patients.
Does it work?
- LASIK has an incredible patient satisfaction rate of 96%. It also has a 99% success rate in achieving 20/40 vision and 90% success rate in achieving 20/20 vision. What prevents a guaranteed 20/20 vision is your individual healing. In some instances, a touch-up procedure may be needed.
How long does it last?
- LASIK is a permanent, life-long procedure; however, your eye’s myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness) may progress because over a lifetime, your eyes can change. But you will never go back to your sight before LASIK.
