Dr. Thomas Shute is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in the diagnosis and management of cataracts and glaucoma. Dr. Shute’s family has been providing eye care to the people of the San Joaquin Valley for four generations.
A native of Clovis, Dr. Shute graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School before joining the Leon S. Peters Honors Program at Fresno City College. After two years at Fresno City, he earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of California, San Diego. He completed medical training at the UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Following his internship at Travis Air Force Base, Dr. Shute served four years as a U.S. Air Force flight surgeon prior to completing ophthalmology residency and fellowship training at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Shute specializes in using the most advanced technology and surgical methods available today.
In his free time, Dr. Shute enjoys snow skiing, hiking, fishing, and surfing. He is a passionate supporter of Fresno State athletics and proudly represents the Red Wave wherever he travels. He is excited to offer cutting-edge cataract and glaucoma treatment options to his friends, neighbors, and the community of Central California.
